Third grade fashion: a new milestone
We have finally reached this milestone of Z’s personal development: fashion consciousness. She claims she is addicted to fashion and now wants to be a fashion designer on top of a famous black baker and food taster when she grows up. ::sighs:: lol Nevertheless, I am excited to see her personal sense of style come together!
It was just last year when Z would put together some interesting combinations of colors and patterns to wear to school. I had to bite my tongue on many occasions and just allow her to express herself in her own unique way. I figured sooner or later her fashion sense will just click. We had a simple lesson over the summer on how to mix and match colors, solids, and patterns. Apparently, she has taken off better than I envisioned when it comes to choosing her school outfits.
It has been a month of school so far, and Z is very much into the following:
She has been into this since kindergarten so she has been consistent. She currently owns a floral print backpack, lunch box, jeggings, and several dresses.
Z is into the cowgirl look (hence her first day of school outfit) and says her booties bring out that look especially in her dress outfits.
Just to be clear. I am not talking only denim jeans. She currently owns a denim vest she loves along with a denim dress, button up shirt, two pairs of overalls, jacket, and shoes. Whew!
Sparkling Colors and Gold
Z likes sparkles and glitter just like any other girl but what surprised me were the sneakers. She is not a sneakers girl by most means. However, she has worn these cute gold sneakers quite a bit into the school year so far.
Z is looking forward to the fall weather so she can wear her long-sleeved/cooler weather outfits. I ordered a couple of boots and dress shoes for the winter and am pretty much done with clothes shopping. I could not be happier because it is bananas the options available for girls in the stores these days. At Target, you will find yourself in a 70’s/80’s flashback with the velour outfits and shiny pants. Wondering if bell bottoms will make a comeback???
