Length Check Overdue!
Before this slip my mind, I wanted to do a quick update on Z’s hair. I did a length check right before she started school a few weeks ago. Right before I styled her hair in a criss cross braids and twist style, she sported a twist out. Z’s hair does amazingly well with twist outs even after a very frizzy set of twists.
I did not do any formal measurements of Z’s hair; the last time was months ago. She measured about 13-14 inches of hair overall. The nape of her head appears to grow slower than the rest of her hair. On the other hand, her crown grows relatively quicker than other areas of her hair. Her hair texture is pretty uniform but I do find that the back half of her head contains really fine hairs. The longer her hair gets, the more I struggle with manipulating this particular area of her head. Even after 4 years of trials and errors, I am still learning how to handle her natural hair.
Without further adieu:
At her current height, Z’s hair is around mid-back length. Of course she wants her hair down to her knees…lol…but I told her we will aim for waist length first. I have not clipped her ends in months but probably will wait until December. Protective styling has been paying off for both her and me.
I will likely not do another check until December.
