I can’t even recall my last update on my hair. I will say that my hair has been through MANY changes since last year. Pregnancy did wonders to my natural hair…glorious, thick, and longish. Postpartum has not been so nice to me nor my hairline. I will do a separate post on my postpartum hair loss experience in an upcoming post. Nevertheless, I believe I have crossed over the awful period of shedding and am currently nurturing my hair back its pre-pregnancy status.
My regimen has been super easy…super lazy would be a better description. My son was born in February this year. Ever since March, I have been on a very low maintenance wig regimen. Once the shedding began, I knew I did not want to have much to do with my hair AT. ALL. A wash and deep condition once at the beginning of the month and a quick wash and condition midway through the month. I moisturize with either Cantu or Shea Moisture leave-in cream, seal with coconut oil, and section my hair into 2-4 braids. Then, I call it a day. That is it.
With the addition of my son, I definitely do not have much spare time to spend on my hair. Once I have dealt with it on wash day, I rarely do anything to it until roughly 2 weeks later. I could do a better job moisturizing my hair every few days or so, but I have been really lazy. The good news is that this regimen has served me well especially and my hair is the longest I recall it to be. The thickness will come in time.
Here are some pictures from my recent wash day I few days ago. These were specifically taken during the deep conditioning process. Like I said, I do not really manipulate my hair that much, but it was fun to see where I stood length-wise. The only measurement I took was from the nape of my head which is approximately 15-16 inches long.
The reality of life is that even though my hair looks full, it is really thinner than it appears. Not only that, but my edges are literally thin and barely there. They are re-growing but still, a struggle to embrace in the meanwhile. I am likely going to continue wearing my wig until December where I will flat iron my hair and give myself a 2 inch cut. I have not cut/trimmed/clipped my ends in forever so it is long overdue.
More updates on my natural hair regimen are coming soon. This blog migration from Blogger to WordPress has been a headache and I was dying to publish SOMETHING soon. Until next time…
